Small Business Sunday
As most of you know Emma and I went up to Birmingham at the end of February for Theo Paphitis SBS event. Which we won our place over on Twitter.
Small Business Sunday, shortened to the hashtag #SBS on Twitter, was created by Theo Paphitis in October 2010. Theo is best known for appearing on Dragons Den on BBC Two.
Each week, Theo rewards small businesses that tweet him @TheoPaphitis and describe their businesses in one tweet. Emma entered without me even knowing. Its still crazy to believe we were lucky enough to have been chosen on our first time of entering.
Every Monday at 8pm Theo reviews and chooses his favourite lucky six who are then re-tweeted. Our Twitter account went crazy that evening. As he has over 450,000 followers, it was really no surprise.
It was from that evening we were eagerly awaiting Friday 28th February. Theo Paphitis’s small business support celebrated its 10th anniversary on October 10th, 2020 and the event also marked this occasion. It was held at the ICC in Birmingham, with around 900 small businesses attending.

The day was full of so much inspiration and motivation for us to push my business to the next level. We truly had a great day.
We learnt so much from Theo himself, with talks also from Google, LinkedIn and Mind. My absolute favourite of the day has to be Theo’s fireside chat interview in the afternoon with TV Dragon and crafting Queen, Sara Davies. She is the most amazing business women and some one I definitely aspire to be.
We had our own professional photographs taken, and all new winners receive their certificate from Theo Paphitis, and have a photo taken together. We may have snuck in a quick selfie too.
We were lucky enough to have travelled up on the Thursday and really enjoyed some down time and got to explore the city. A trip to Birmingham wouldn’t be complete with out visiting Cadburys World. So of course we made a slight detour on the way home.
